Question type: General

My new F150 w/5.0L engine seem to be using oil between changes. Had add some oil this morning, not quit a quart but this does concern me. the truck only have approximately 13k miles on it. Should I be concern?

HOw much oil is it using over how many miles. I change the oil in my 2010 4.6 every 5K miles. Over that time I may use little less than a quart.

I have seen quite a few complaints recently about new Fords using a lot of oil. Makes me concerned.

It it common for the newer engines to loose some oil between changes especially when they require a lighter oil when they get toward the end of the life it starts using it park on a flat surface put a clean piece of cardboard under it and that will show you if it is leaking also when you run the engine look behind it and see if it is smoking if nothing it's probably just normal

The 2018 and up 5.0's have a problem with the spray on plasma cylinder coating failing. Ford should take care of this under warranty.

FOR, I heard that also. I've driven Fords for 50 years. The reason why I have not purchased a new pickup is because of spray on cylinder liners. Just how much extra would it cost to use steel liners in aluminum blocks?
