2018 Ford explorer battery issue

Asked by Guru96Q6VC Oct 28, 2022 at 02:00 PM about the 2018 Ford Explorer XLT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My vehicle never gave me any indication that my battery was bad, no warning
signs ie:  hard to start (push start), flickering lights, dashboard warning.  I tried
starting one evening after using it most of the day, and it was completely dead.
Any clue why?  Thanks

Make sure batt terminals are clean and tight , It needs to be tested , a smart charger can indicate a problem , the alternator should be tested if you get it running , use memory saver if you disconnect the battery

Sometimes it as simple as a change in the weather and poof your battery just dies. On my mountaineer it worked fine all summer then one fall day it frosted that night and the battery was kaput.

If the battery is original to the vehicle, which it very well might be, it's time to replace it. Original equipment batteries are usually only designed to last three years and the vehicle is four years old. It's not uncommon for a battery to just drop dead. I've had it happen to me a few times over the years. Hope that helps! Jim
