Transmission gear

My car no longer shifts into gear it is a 1999
Taurus. I was told it was the transmission gear and
a bolt. How hard is it to fix on my own?

I would say a 99 taurus isn't worth the trouble , time to move on and put that one out to pasture

    My car takes a min to shift into first gear it goes in reverse fine and go's into drive but goes up to like 4rpm before it shifts
