What hitch to use

Question type: General

I have a 2018 RAM SLT with 5.7 hemi..321 gears..20 inch wheels. It has towing
pkg and electrical connection. It has a hole in the bumper for a trailer hitch ball.
Is the bumper connection adequate for a 18 foot steel car trailer with a 3800
pound car on it or do I need a heavier hitch attached to the frame?

the bumper tow rating should be listed in the owners manual, but in my experience they top out around 2,000 lbs. For that much trailer and weight I'd highly recommend a frame mounted hitch receiver.
