Lost key for 2002 kia omptima

I no longer have a key available
for my 2002 kia optima
Is there a way to have a key made
.. or punch the ignition?   There i a
chip in the key and I do not have
a spare or anything

You'll have to get one made at the dealer , hopefully they can make it off the vin # , You will not like what they charge , maybe junk it and get something better and not another kia P.O.S.

DO NOT "punch" the ignition!! The security system will shut down the vehicle if you do! Then you'll have more problems! The best thing to do is contact a local locksmith. They can make you new keys and program them to the vehicle. Hope that helps! Jim

You can order a blank from Ebay and they take about a half hour to program yourself, the problem is getting it cut without an existing pattern. I'd check you local old school hardware store, ours not only was able to cut the key but they could program it too! You may have to change the ignition out as it comes with new keys then program it. No matter what it's a hassle, contact Kia and talk to a service tech not a salesman and see what they have to say. Good luck.
