Check simple things first, always. Make sure the wires going to the speakers (from the old radio) are connected to the proper places on the new radio. I assume the new one is a different brand.
ozepeda Sep 29, 2013 · #11 Solution If anyone is still having trouble with first gen Kia optima lx (2001-2002) with getting sound to come out of speakers I have solution. If you have an amplifier (if you don't know if you do, lift the carpeting on the right side of the trunk and there should be a steel panel with the amp bolted onto it so you'll just see the ports end of it.) then I am assuming that you have already wired up your aftermarket stereo harness to your new deck and it turns on but no sound. If so, then what you need to do is take the power antenna connection from the aftermarket side (blue wire) and switch the pin over to an unoccupied hole on the bottom row of the plug (there will most likely be two unoccupied holes) and make sure it lines up with the GREEN wire from your stock harness (the one coming out of your dash) which will also be on the bottom row of the stock plug. The green wire is the wire feeding power to the amp so it will actually turn on on these cars. Addendum: some models have an amp fuse under the hood. May need to be replaced.
