This is an electric water pump so they don’t last long. Better get it checked ASAP cause you don’t want to damage the engine.

The code tells you where the problem lies not what to replace it still has to be diagnosed , something else may be affecting things -throwing you off .

Water pumps are like anything else, your results may vary. Have it checked out sooner rather than later! You don't want to overheat the engine and risk damaging it! Jim

Suggestions......DO NOT replace water pump....not yet. There is a factory service bulletin concerning this issue. SB ...T-SB-0323-17. This SB tells a Toyota Mechanic how to fix this vehicle. This repair may be covered under Warranty. Call a Toyota Dealer. Give them your Make Model Year. Give them this SB number and Code above. Ask if this is covered under Warranty. Ask the cost of repairs if Not under Warranty. Shop around for a better repair cost. Finally...Google this service bulletin....make a copy or two.....as reference when shopping around for a repair quote. Get back to us with results.

KBL......looking for feed back on this interesting issue. Give us the good news first.

Tony It's not the water pump itself but it's the electric part that is on the water pump it is a two stage pump part meaning it has two speeds and it is stuck to the open position. The pump itself is good the part that needs to be reprogrammed is the coolant pump which is what the warranty covers. I had to leave it at the dealership because there was a new guy that didn't know how to do it. I get the car back tomorrow and I will keep everyone posted.

Tony well the out come wasn't what I expected. The water pump itself was shot the impellers where stuck and when Toyota took the pump off I was there and I couldn't turn them with a screw drive so I had to have it replaced. But it's all good the warranty for the code does not replace the water pump itself the warranty only covers the update on the software. So who ever said that the warranty replaces the water pump they are mistaken just read what the 96 months or 80,000 miles warranty says.

Hmmmmm....did this vehichle show any signs of over heating? Smoke Coolant everywhere under the hood? Any warning lights on or flashing before the repair. A stuck water pump.....meaning it does not rotate when you turn it by hand........result......overheat condition. Are you sure they showed you YOUR pump?

Yes Tony I'm sure it was my pump I put markings on the pump itself with a invisible ink pen. The car showed no signs of anything no smoke but I did hear a sound like scraping plastic but I wasn't sure what that was and now I don't hear the sound.
