You can't pop your hood call your oil dipstick it will be the one marked oil usually yellow in a Toyota or most vehicles for that matter you want to make sure the oil is in the crosshatch area at the bottom of the stick wipe it off and put it back and then pull it again and check it make sure the vehicle is warmed up for this but not running
