What causes intermittent stalling?

Asked by ContourLady127 Aug 20, 2010 at 01:41 PM about the 1998 Ford Contour 4 Dr SE Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Contour occasionally stalls when I slow down or turn a corner. There is no check engine light, and the Ford dealer and an independent shop turn up nothing on their diagnosistic scan. I'm wondering if it could be the idle air control solenoid.  The car is a 6 cylinder 2.5 L manual with 178,000 miles. I would appreciate any advice.

it does sound like the IAC. may also be the egr stuck open slightly.

sounds like your throttle position sencor is bad,a bad IAC would have a rough idle.
