Why is my front driver's side Wheel locking up?

Asked by Zrants84 Oct 05, 2020 at 03:34 PM about the 2004 Lincoln Aviator Luxury AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just replaced the hub assembly, rotor, brake
caliper and brake pads on my 2004 Aviator. I had it
check and was told I need new bushings and a
boot on the drive line. But it clicks very loudly
when I turn at low speeds and will stop completely
after taking a turn and make a whirring sound. My
ABS light is on, advtrac disables, and awd will
either lock or be disabled. Are the bushings and
boots the cause or is it something bigger and do I
run the risk of dropping my drive line? Help please

Clicking usually indicates a CV axle joint issue. If you need a new boot, I suspect the boot is torn allowing the grease in the joint to leak out. You need to replace the axle in most cases. Also check the wheel speed sensors, that is what is making the ABS light come on. You can scan for the codes to find out what side is the issue.
