2004 Lincoln navigator heating problems

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I just had a rebuilt drivers side head installed, car runs fine but the heat is just a bit over luke warm. I had my shop install a new thermostat and while at the shop it heated up great, I drove 10-15 miles and it was hot as a hair dryer. Met my wife for lunch I gave her the navigator and I took mine. later that evening she had to go to town and it went right back to the luke warm temp. Im seeing a lot of chatter about vacuum hoses, the shop had a lot of stuff un hooked is it possible a vacuum hose may be off, and why did it heat up great after thermostat replacement.? any Ideas will be wonderful

Check that the coolant level didn't drop since returning the car to the wife. After driving it for a while your cooling system may have discharged trapped air, and now it may be low. Just make sure the coolant is topped off and see if problem persists.
I thought of that thank you it's right where it's supposed to be.
Does the engine appear to be running okay temperature-wise? Is the temp gauge reading in a normal range and do the cooling fans come on after running the engine for several minutes? The engine and cooling system might be fine, the problem might be with a climate control or temperature blend door for the heater core. The blend door is basically a plastic flap that directs air from the blower motor to either the heater core (for heat) or over the AC evap coil (for cold) or some point in between.
Everything is as it should be, engine is running great, fluid levels good, fan blowing great, even when it wasnt running good it heated great. it was in the shop about a month. I have a great mechanic with top notch equipment. he is baffled as I am. it was in a heated garage.
I would have said check out the temperature control sensor. As soon as you said it got hot right away on a test drive. Prime example...a t c s would have taken care of that. Hopefully you will see this comment on a question that is 3 year old. Good luck
