my 2003 lincoln aviator is taking long to shift when first takes off. Could that be needing a coil?

If a coil was bad you would have a miss and the CEL would be on.

Just go to a trany shop for diagnosis. There are shift solenoids that they may be able to do something with.

Well the transmission place said it was misfiring and it needed a new transmission. Not sure if they are just trying to make money with new transmission or what. I looked up the recalls and it says there is a recall for the the ignition coil. Will this fix the problem? Please help!! :)
It will make your engine run better and take care of the CEL light. It may help with the shifting, depends on what kind of shape the trany is in.

If the CEL is on, have the codes read and post them here.
