Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello,
My wife has a 2003 lincoln navigator. We have a problem with the car bucking. The
truck now will buck and then run really rough and struggle to maintain speed.
Sometimes, if I let off the throttle, it will stall. Once the car shuts off and I restart it,
the car runs great. Once in a while, I will  get a check engine light. Plugging in the
scanner tells me that we have 4 bad coil packs. I don't believe it. I tried changing tps
and the fuel filter. Everything else is too expensive to just start replacing parts on a
guess. Also, the truck seems to run great until it warms up, a few miles on the
highway. Then the problems start. Anyone have any suggestions? Dealer is just too
expensive and they will just replace everything and charge me a fortune to do it.

No promises but did you check your air filter and clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaner spray and also add fuel injector cleaner to gas tank then take out on road and hit the passing gear a few times that will help clean the fuel injectors and clean out the carbon build up.

Thanks for the suggestion. If it were dirty, wouldn't the truck give me headaches even before it warmed up? It runs really well until I put a few miles on highway.

Just some suggestions to try but I believe your check engine code reading is right ? Usually the code reading is right. Bad coil packs.

Hello there did you ever figure out what was wrong with your Navigator because I'm having the same issues

I had the same problem. The coil packs in the back are really hard to seat and if not seated properly they can crack. That's what happened to mine.
