Dear bigdaddy1-- So, you can't find your starter? I think I will send you to the following site and you can see where it is for yourself. Go to-- http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/13/ae/c9/0900823d8013aec9.jsp. Next time don't forget where you left it. Good luck from Bovan.

Oy bigdaddy, I am hearing various nasty things about removing the starter on various model years of the Escort (my first suggestion is to crawl underneath and look up), but rather than speculate I'll suggest you head on down to the local library to take a look at the Chilton's for your Escort. It will show you the fastest and easiest procedure to get at your starter. If you can't find it there you can try your local book store, parts place and then the Internet in the form ebay or Amazon.com. Of course the other local options include talking to the service guy at your local Ford dealer or talking to the guy at the parts counter where you plan to buy your next starter. Those parst guys seem to know everything. Good luck!
