interior lights not working

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
The interior lights/door lights are not working on 2001. Fuse blows when inserted. Larger
fuse will cause lights to come on then dim, but one starts smelling smoke. Suggestions?

Sounds like something is grounding out. My first thought would be to replace the door switch that activates your interior lights when you get in. Switch may be damaged, causing the system to ground out. Remember, you have one on the other door also.
DO NOT PUT A LARGER FUSE IN! You have a short - power to ground that is blowing the fuse. The fuse is what's keeping your vehicle from burning to the ground! Not likely to be the switch since it's purpose is to supply signal to the Lighting Control Module (LCM) which, in turn, activates the light(s).
