You may have to rotate the bulb or the retaining ring to remove the old bulb.
the bulb pulls directly out of the housing with no problems. it is stuck in the plug. everything I have seen it should just pull right out.but it will not budge in the plug its self. so I cant unplug it.
Maybe a little penetrating oil would help - just a couple of drops.

If its stuck in the Wire connector/bulb socket there should be some small tabs either pinch together or pry apart to release it.
I found that the prior owner glued the bulbs into the plug.
Doh! You may need to install new pigtails. Solder them in for the best job.
