how to defeat check engine light

I have a misfire at #8 cylinder due to low compression. I have replaced the coil and spark plug three times despite the fact the plug was not dirty or fouled. I just want to dispense with the dash warning light.

Your car is not running properly, so it is telling you so. Best way to keep light from going out is fix your car. If you don't want to fix problem and don't want to see light, then put a piece of black tape over light.
