Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Dome light works in on  and off position but when in dome position and the doors are closed the dome light stays on. Removed dome light and it appears clean and unremarkable. Removed each door switch and they appear functional and unremarkable.

you might have a short somewhere in the lighting system.

Not sure if you still have this car/ problem? I just bought a 2001 ZX2 and had the same issue with the dome light staying on always in the door position. The fix was replacing the under dash fuse box as the module on the back(warning chime module)contains the timer and supplies the ground for the dome lights which are wired hot all the time. Bought one from a salvage yard for $35 problem solved.

BTW, I got one out of a 4 door just like yours only to discover it was not the same as a Escort ZX2 2 door, it is for sale on Ebay if you still need it. $50 or best offer.

$50 obo http://www.ebay.com/itm/281138909971?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
