UConnect upgrade 12/31/21 will disable hands free for 2018 Jeeps

Asked by Guru9V9RY8 Apr 06, 2021 at 02:19 PM about the 2018 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4WD

Question type: General

I called UConnect to renew my yearly subscription and was told I could only
do a month to month because after they change from 3g to 4g at the end of
2021 the hands free phone capability will no longer work.  I called Jeep
directly to get more information and they said that after 12/31/21, a dongle
will have to be purchased in order to have hands free thru UConnect.  Has
anyone else heard of this?

I have not but I would hope Jeep would do the upgrade for free. Especially if you're the original owner of the vehicle! When GM went digital for OnStar from analog they were willing to upgrade customer's vehicles for free for a certain amount of time after the changeover happened. Hopefully Jeep will stand behind their customers too! Jim
