What would cause the left (drivers side) headlight to stay on, even if the headlights and car are both turned off?

Asked by Erin Nov 20, 2014 at 10:52 AM about the 2005 Mazda Tribute s 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Mazda Tribute, and found a dead car battery one day after work.
Discovered the battery and alternator were running fine, but noticed that the headlight
on the driver's side of the car would remain on, even when the headlights were not
turned on, nor would the car be running.  It was suggested that there could be an issue
with the PCM, but haven't had any other issues with the car until now.  Could this be a
PCM issue, or a fuse issue?

I don,t think it would be a pcm problem, and it seems, like if it were a switch issue,it would make both headlights burn,i think you have a short,in wiring near the head light assembly, check the wire,s at that light.

Assuming that both headlights normally work? One way to troubleshoot circuits it to find the fuse block(s), and pull each fuse out, till the head light turns off, then explore that particular circuit.
