Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a new (2018) Subaru Outback 3.6R.  I live in Santa Fe, NM , 6000 ft
altitude.  The Manual says use 88+ octane fuel. Is that necessary at this
altitude?

If it runs good and does not ping then use it. Do you have a lower grade available?
