How to fix wheel volume button?

Asked by Scott Jul 28, 2020 at 03:28 PM about the 2018 Hyundai Sonata Limited FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2018 sonata and the up volume
button on the steering wheel won't work. The
down volume works but not the up. You can
feel it doesn't have the normal feel to it when
trying to raise the volume. Any way I can fix it
on my own or should I just take it in? I'm
assuming they're going to charge me a
ridiculous amount???

I know I'm going to sound stupid, but I'm not sure, how do I know if I have warranty coverage? I got the car in October

The car is 2 years old. Typically the warranty is good for 3 years. Look up the warranty online or look in the glove box.

Looks like it's under warranty for 5 years! Contact your dealership :) https://owners.hyundaiusa.com/content/dam/hyundai/us/myhyundai/factory- warranty/2018/2018MY_Hyundai_All%20Models_Warranty%20Handbook.pdf

Same here. Had to gently disassemble the switch. See photos. There are two tabs: one for vol up, one for vol down. The tab for vol up simply broke off. Trying to use superglue. If that does not work, will ask the dealership if they have a spare one. My best guess is that they sell the whole module for $50 or so, but the module is okay. Just a poor-quality plastic crap.

@Guru9NBZWV, how did you get it out? Did the superglue work? Did you end up having to get a replacement part and if so how much was it?
