I have a 2004 mazda 6 wagon and the other day when I went to start it nothing happened besides the air and radio coming on. the engine made no sort of start up noise.. we know its not the battery because we already tried to jump it and we thought it was the starter but found out it was not that either.. (my dad is a mechanic) so when he took it to his shop, he found out that the car alarm system has the car shut down.. I do not have the remote that locks and unlocks the car which we have been looking for but does anyone know how this can be fixed??

yes...it would appear that you've got insufficient ground...take the black cable 1/0 battery cable where it attaches to the frame....wirebrush with a coarse wirebrush here and the lug you took off so the full AMPERAGE can get through to your startermotor~ just disconnect the damned alarm at it's red wire and hear no more from it~ get a new battery if yours is older then seven~

thank you soo much for your help! my dad says he will check that out tomorrow.. On the dash by the speedometer the car with the key is now constantly flashing.. the alarm is not actually sounding though.. it was so random because all I did was get out at the bank and when I got back in it just wouldn't crank at all..

oooo parasitic drain....those bastards....disconnect that bazooba...we don't need these....as seen in "gone in sixty seconds" NO amount of security will stop a flat bed hauler from hookin' some chains and winching it up onto the flat bed~....so it's a mooot point (unless you like to piss off the neighbors with four different repeating levels of obnoxiousness)~ remove and discard any trace of this scourge and check for parasitic drain~

well we know the battery is good for sure because we jumped the battery to the starter and it cranked over.. and the lights are bright, the air comes on, and so does the radio, but it doesn't turn over.. it appears that the alarm is engaged but does not make any noise.. the security light flashes all the time now.. but again the car makes no alarm sound.. the car acts like it is stolen and shut down so it can not be stolen??? idk its so weird!!

yeah....got to find that parasitic drain and "pluck" it's fuse...follow eric the car guy's instructions...tho tedious and will require a multimeter will tell you which fuse to pull~

sounds like there is an "extra" relay in your relay box...try to identify all the relays and simply take out the one that touches off the alarm~

Cyndi, did you ever truly find out what the problem was? I know its 5 years since this post but have been searching for someone with the same issues. I have a 2004 Mazda 6 sport that is doing the same thing right now. Worked fine and then nothing, no crank,no sound. Thought it was the battery butt battery is good, solenoid is good. Get dash lights and a flashing security key light. I am trying to avoid taking it to the Mazda dealership. Was wondering what came of your situation.
