Diesel engine don't need a spark so it must be a fuel delivery problem. While cranking there should be a white fog of unburned diesel fuel coming out the exhaust pipe if you have fuel to the engine. In that case check for glow plugs coming on to preheat engine. If No fog, then check filters first, then transfer pump, then injector pump. Are there any codes showing? Diesels should start fast in warm weather. One more thing. Look see if the fuel solenoid turns on the fuel valve with the key on. You can sometimes hear a clunk under the hood when it's activated. If it stays shut we used to tie them open with a sting to make it run long enough to get home.
