Hotter Climate makes my Prius act funny

Asked by GuruVNLXS Aug 29, 2018 at 10:54 AM about the 2012 Toyota Prius Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 Prius and just moved from Northern California to Central
Texas. When I come out to my car now after it has been sitting in 100 degree
heat for a while, when I turn it on the whole engine sounds stressed, and
hums/revs in a way I've never heard before. I do turn up the AC, but that's
not new. The car calms down after about 10 minutes of driving, but I'm
concerned. Makes me feel like my car isn't happy in the heat. What is going
on?

The battery in a Prius just like any other component in a car will lag and have a hard time running in high heat at start up. I would if you can park the car in the shade if you can when the temps are high !
