2001 mazda mpv- low power/acceleration

Asked by BrokeAndBrokeDown Sep 25, 2019 at 11:07 AM about the 2001 Mazda MPV LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 01 mazda mpv. Everything but the egr, cats, and
o2 sensors are new. All vacuum, emission and evap lines
are hooked up and in good condition or new. Entire cooling
system is two years old. When accelerating or driving; I
have no power after 3400 rpm but the engine will tach out if
I let it. The engine temp will also increase outside the
normal range (to about 2/3 the gauge) if I'm not on a level
or down hill slope. The can also is incredibly slow to
accelerate from a roll or a stop. Any ideas on where my
problem is?

Several possible problems. Clean the EGR. Burp the Cooling system, has air pocket causing over heat. Possible Intake leak. Do a smoke test to determine vacuum leak. Do a compression test. You can Google or Bing all of these for instructions.
