Car will turn over but not start

Asked by Snivens1 Feb 18, 2019 at 10:14 AM about the 2001 Mazda Millenia 4 Dr Premium Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 2001 Mazda Millenia that shut off while driving. Battery good, New
alternator, new crankshaft sensor. Thought the crank sensor was the culprit
because I removed the old the cable the copper  wiring was exposed. Engine
will turn over but fails to start. Get spark to the plugs, getting fuel as well. I am
stuck

Thanks, i was planning on checking the tiiming belts next to check for slippage but I will check that as well.

Wanted to provide and update. The timing was off and we have replaced the belt, and ll the pulleys and the water pump. Put everything back together and the car fired right up. After a couple days, the engine started to idle a little rough and stalls out at idle and cuts off. It fires right back up, and at idle and when slowing down, it stalls out. We have since replaced the plugs and the wires and still the same issue. When checking for trouble codes, get a cylinder 5 misfire and a manufacturer control codes. Don't have the money to put in the shop and any ideas as to where to go from here would be grateful.
