Trouble with Supercharger

Asked by marlynsvr Dec 20, 2016 at 10:16 PM about the 2000 Mazda Millenia 4 Dr S Supercharged Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 2000 MilleniaS   Love the car, but having a problem sometime during idoling and seems to be timing.  My mechanic says the bearing in the supercharger are the problem.  The cost of a new supercharger ia about the cost of the retail value of the car.  Question.  Can I take the supercharge off the car, and what modifications are needed if the supercharger is removed.
I'm an old guy and could care ;less about the rapid acceleration provided by supercharger.

Not really sure about that changes need in the ECU for that car. One option is to pack the bearings with high performance grease. (like Royal Purple Ultra-Performance Grease 01312) This could be a cheap (< $15) fix that could keep you going for a little while.

I would investigate rebuilding the super charger.
