i have electric motar in my steering wheel and when i try and tilt the steering wheel the electric motar turns on and makes a clicking noise but it wont tilt, is the motar bad?

my steering wheel has an electric motar and when i try and tilt the steering wheel the electric motar turns on and makes a clicking noise but wont tilt the steering wheel, is the motar bad or is it something else?

if there is a steady clicking sound, most likely the gear drive in the motor itself is gone. these motors are pricey, but easy to change. however, you will need to make a couple holes in the panel under the steering column to acces 2 of the 4 screws holding the motor to the steering column.
