Car Not Cranking

Asked by DesperateInTexas Jan 22, 2018 at 11:21 AM about the 2003 Buick Century Custom Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2003 Buick Century will not start and I believe it may be that its just not
sensing when it is in Park which disables starting.  I think this because there
were a couple times in the past turning the key did nothing and I would shift
into gear and back to park and it would start.  Now it does nothing but all
lights come on but no cranking at all.  Could this be it and if it is a sensor
where would I find it?  Thank you!

In neutral it is doing the same thing, this morning i tried tapping on the starter which didnt help. When I turn the key and all the lights come on I can hear something powering up (fuel pump maybe) but no clicking, nothing.

did someone tap on the starter while someone else held the ignition in start?

Yeah we tried that this morning once I had someone to help. Just took the started off and will be taking it down to have it tested....hopefully thats all it is. I will update and let you guys know what I find out.
