1998 ford mustang 4.6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I bought this mustang and it was working. Then it stoped
working . Then i relized it was missing lots of fuses . The
engine light is on but has no error codes . The dash shows
the battery is low and the oil is really low . I check the oil
and it has right amount . I took the battery to go charge but
that didnt fix the car . Do you think putting a new alternator
will fix it or do you think its bad wiring ? Whats wrong with
it. When i go to turn on the car it just makes on click and
then nothing happens . The engine dosnt turn on .

If you battery terminals & terminal wires are corroded, frayed, burned or insulation cracking off or otherwise bad replace them. Make sure the wires connected properly and tight and Grounds to frame from battery and engine to frame are good, tight and clean.

If battery or alternator fails test replace and at its age if it still has oem battery terminals & wires replace them. Check all fuses under hood and dash and relays too.

Wonder why it was missing so many fuses? May have other issues wrong. Parasitic draw/shorts.

You try turning it over at the crank with a crank wrench to see if its locked up.

You can take that starter to have tested at same time as battery & alt.
Not all slots in the fuse box are used.
