1998 ford mustang - where does this vehicle top out on milage? 100,000 - 150,000? more?

Question type: General
I am considering buying my nieces 1998 ford mustang with 108,000 miles on it for my son's first car. I am wondering how this car rates in milage. At about 15-20,000 miles a year, I am wondering if i will get about 3-4 years out of this car.

condition and how the car was kept is more important than mileage these days, if the oil has been changed on a regular basis along with all the oter fluids when required. if its a gt might be a little much for a 1st car, and they are notoriously bad handling in inclement weather, other than that they are fun cars my wife has an 05 gt and we love it
If it's a GT (V-8), not a good option for a son's first car.

My daughter had a '94 V6 Mustang, had over 200,000 miles on it when she sold it. My nephew bought, it's still going. Original motor trans, etc. ball joints, tie rods brakes and other normal wearing parts have been replaced.
i have had awesome luck with the engines never had one blow up on me or anything go wrong, i had a 95 gt when i sold it had 240 000km on it and a v6 that had 280 000km , besides the upkeep on suspension and steering it has been a beaut
These things run forever if well taken care of. The 4.6 is practically bullet proof but plan on a mechanic working on it outside of flud changes. My 1997 GT still runs great at 140K miles. But I suggest a bit more tame car for a first vehicle.
The GT has a 4.6 engine; same as the ford Crown Victoria and the Lincoln Town Car. At my cab company, we regularly see more than 400,000 on a well maintained motor before it starts using up a tremendous amount of oil. With that engine being as common as they are, a replacement can be had for a little less than $1000, and installation is only moderately difficult if you are familiar with cars. So, theoretically, the car can run forever. It just depends on how well you maintain it, and whether you are averse to replacing the engine every so often. the transmissions will last about 200,000 with regular maintenance, and the front suspensions will need a complete overhaul after about 150,000.
My 1998 gt convertible has 143,000 miles. And runs beautiful with no problems and the body is in great shape and a clean engine. I love it. I got it 3 months ago . i just love it.
Always buy american!!! Mustangs that is!
