Locking the doors of the Hyundai Kona

Asked by Monte77panther Sep 23, 2018 at 10:59 AM about the 2018 Hyundai Kona Limited AWD

Question type: Car Customization

How do I lock the doors of the car? Even though I press "lock" all I have to do is
press the button on the handle and it opens. If that's the case then anyone
would be able to just press the button? I must be doing something wrong. Does
it have to be programmed before using?

Using the button on the doors, the doors will not lock or unlock unless you are within reach of the car and have the key on you. If you are too far away or do not have the key, nothing will happen. (Also, the car beeps a warning if you get out of the car and take the key with you.)

My question is I parked my car this morning in a hurry. Im worried I may have left engine on, ugh!! I'm a knucklehead, but i'm thinking that if I had left the engine running when I pressed handle to lock my doors it would have beeped at me. What do you think? It's a 2018

Yes - If you left the car running and got out of the car with your key, the car would have beeped a long beep. And if you left the car running and got out WITHOUT the key, you wouldn't have been able to lock the door (it would have locked, then unlocked).

I have the same question. I tried locking my doors from outside while I ran back to my house to grab something and they didn't lock! the alarm activated because I had the key fob outside the car but I dont think it is possible to lock the doors if you leave the car double parked for example. ref: Kona SEL '19
