Why Is the all wheel drive always on unless turned off -- Seems it should be the other way around.

It's a fairly pricey option and a selling point, so they figure most folks who are spending the extra, would WANT it to be full-time AWD, and may never turn it off, but if they want to, the option is there. Lots of vehicles are full-time AWD with no "off" button, which to me is kind of a bummer considering the slightly lower gas mileage over time.

you can not turn the AWD off. If you have a button on the dah to the left of the steering wheel that says "off" it is for your back up sensors
