2019 Jeep Cherokee: ISSUES, MALFUNCTIONS, SAFETY CONCERNS

Asked by Nat415 Oct 17, 2018 at 04:20 PM about the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Overland 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Bought 2019 Jeep Cherokee June 2018. The car already had a recall on
breaks. Over the last 4 months, been experiencing engine stalling, break
light showing up on dash and the car breaking on it's own (done nothing to
trigger this), the navigation screen is unresponsive, the bluetooth is not
connecting. The dealership did an update for my navigation system, and
issue persists. SO MANY ISSUES IN SUCH LITTLE TIME. The car is
scheduled to be in the shop tomorrow morning. It's upsetting that I rely on
my vehicle for work, and have pay out of pocket for a rental. I've emailed
FCA yesterday, haven't heard back from them. I'm in the process of
contacting Transport Canada to report defects. I feel so unsafe in this
vehicle. So disappointed and frustrated.

I noticed no one has got any resolution for their issues. Hoping to get one
soon! If anyone had experienced the same thing and had a positive
outcome, please share.

You've e-mailed FCA? Lol, do you really think that will do anything. Get on the phone and give them hell.

Have you had any resolve? I have had my jeep 5 days and stalled out a dozen times

@GuruCZC85 Unfortunately, no resolution. It's an electrical issue that they can't seem to fix. Ended up getting a different vehicle. They had asked to capture the issues on video, which I did, and there was still nothing they can do. They won't take any responsibility either. I hope you're able to return it and get your money back. The car is not worth the headache. All the best!

I have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee with the 2.4L Tiger shark engine, and the 9 speed transmission. Vehicle started shutting down while driving (had 5000 miles one it at the time. I was told that the vehicle was 3 or more quarts of oil low and that was the reason it shut down because of low oil pressure. The vehicle now has 14700 mile and uses a quart of oil every 1200 miles. ( keep a close eye on it so it won't start shutting down again) Was told by jeep that was acceptable, I'm not sure in what world a brand new vehicle uses a quart of oil every 1200 mile is acceptable. I have had two different dealerships perform oil consumption tests, I'm at the end of the second test and they still are not willing to fix the problem. Second problem is car takes about 5 seconds to accelerate. While slowing down from 45 to 30 and then trying to accelerate the vehicle hesitates for 5 or more seconds before it will respond to throttle. Once it does responds it goes from 1000rpm to 3500rpm and the car takes off like a rocket. It's very dangerous while you are turning in an intersection and you don't know if the car will accelerate or just sit there for 5 seconds before it starts to go. Service department told me that the vehicle was performing as designed. Which tells me all 2019 Jeep Cherokees with this transmissions engine combination are defective and dangerous.

I bought my 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus Certified Pre- owned....in the shop more than with me...have to add a quart of oil every 1,000 miles, had the salesman told me about this I would never had purchased this piece of crap... transmission hesitates, have to wait until no one is around to make a turn or pull out onto the road due to hesitation of transmission...no pick up trying to pass had the gas pedal to the floor doing around 36 mph... it's a death trap...

I will never buy another Jeep product. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude is a piece of crap. My warranty just expired (below milage) and I have had to have my rear differential replaced ($3500), my front exhaust system ($3300) and brakes ($1200) all within 2 months. $8000 total
