Can air in the cooling system cause the thermostat to stick closed?

Air bubbles are present after new
radiator and thermostat and the
thermostat fails to open.

Check your thermostat by removing it,place it in boiled water for 5min.check if it opens and then place it in tap water,check if its closing.if it does refit it and bleed your water system
