Brake System Warning Indicator Light

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The last couple of mornings while driving to work, the Brake System Warning indicator lights pops on for a few seconds, either just before I get to a red light or just after leaving a red light. Is this because there may be an issue or is it one of those things possibly affected by the morning chill? It has been around 55 or 60 each of the last few mornings but this isn't happening in the afternoon when leaving work when the temp is up near 90+/-.

Also check the switch mounted under the dash at the brake pedal, it tells the car that the parking brake is on & they often go bad or come loose and make and break contact while driving. When it makes contact the brake warning light will come on.

The brake light issue is resolved with the addition of some DOT 3 brake fluid. I looked at the switches and connections and they all seem to be fine.

The addition of brake fluid may have eliminated the problem for right now, but you DO STILL have a problem that needs fixing. Even if your brake pads and shoes have worn down, the amount of fluid that is in the reservoir should have remained high enough to not have tripped the light.
