My heater went out in my mercury cougar 2001 it began to make clanking grinding sound for a few days then sounded like a bike chain disconnecting and one it won't work at all. What do I do and where is the unit located in the vehicle ?

quite surprised you did not see the pool of coolant that came out of the "weep hole" on the front of the waterpump~ did you notice a reduced coolant level?
