How do I fix a cracked block and ac in my Mercury Villager? 2001 Sport model

Asked by AliFox Jul 11, 2016 at 10:10 PM about the 2001 Mercury Villager 4 Dr Sport Passenger Van

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My ac is out, found out we have a cracked block. We've already tried the sealant and freeon with
no luck. I'm afraid we'll have to replace the block and it's hundreds of dollars to fix it based on
the quote we got via free estimate.

This doesn't make any sense. A cracked block would be leaking engine oil, wouldn't have anything to do with the air cond. A cracked or shot a/c pump would make it lose freon. Bad a/c hose, too. I smell a rat here.

Are you losing coolant?(antifreeze) and having to top off the radiator? Cracked block would do that. I think you just need a pump. (compressor). Try looking for one on EBAY
