Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2000 Cougar and just the other day I was driving and the battery light and oil light came on at the same time and the engine shut down. I don't think it is a battery, do any of you think it might be the alternator going on it?

I have a 1999 cougar, but everything on it is from the year 2000, and mine starting doing that too last summer... It was in fact the alternator! I replaced it and hasnt done anything since!
The reason the battery and oil light came on at the same time is because the engine had already stalled. that's why all the warning lights came on. possible a fuel loss if sputtering before it died or an ignition loss if the felt like someone had turned off the key. Any other performance related concerns before this - lack of power upon accleration from a stop?? possible MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor. Have it tested and find out when the GPS (grams per second) of air is??
