I have transmission problems

I have a 2000 mercury cougar and everytime i throw the car in gear it takes a minute to slide into the gear i shift it in...i have trans fluid squirting out from the right tire rode because its a side ways trans... i just need to know whats the exact problem and how much would it coast for the parts and the labor just to get it done right?......

dont use just any tranny fluid....i believe ford puts in a (lifetime) syntheic on the crown vic line thats what you have to use in the trannys or it wears them out in a hurry but check your fluid level and check around the transmission pan for leakeage maby try a bottle of stop leak or visit you local mechanic
