Can you tell me what size spare tire came with a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer?

Probably a rim with a donut on it. If it had a full size spare tire it would have ben the size indicated on the sticker on the door jam that the vehicle takes.

Rowefast, Thank you. If the tires on the truck are 225/70R15, would that be the size of spare I should try to find her? Sorry so many questions, just really don't know much about cars and trying to help this lady.

Yes, best to match the tire size on the vehicle. Make sure the rim is for that vehicle also, rims are vehicle specific.
