I have a 1998 Mercury Tracer LS that dropped a valve and I was thinking of replacing the motor instead of scapping it It is still in very good shape. What engines can I use?

Replace with the exact same engine 2.0 or you'll have a NIGHTMARE time with adapting the wiring harness and engine management control sensors and the Ford EECV computer which controls all the sub systems in the car.
