RPM's high

Asked by FraserMerk Feb 21, 2010 at 09:28 PM about the 1991 Mercury Capri Convertible FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently when starting and driving my car the RPM's have been very high, engine is loud, engine temperature very high and there is a burning smell. I know I have a radiator leak and I am about to replace the radiator. I check the level of anti-freeze very often. What can be causing the RPM's to be so high and engine so loud?
