Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My brother just got an 1983 Dodge Ram Van
B250 off an older gentleman so it set for a
while so when my husband drove it home the
brakes were sticking so my husband cleaned
them up and everything well after he cleaned
them up he tried to bleed the brakes and he
can not get them bleed for both you can
pump them up and bleed them all you want
and still no breaks and no peddle is there a
trick to getting them bleed ? Any advice or
suggestions will be greatly appreciated thank.

Probably not bleeding them correctly. I suggest he have a helper (you) keep the reservoir topped off while using a MityVac to suck the old fluid out.

We have use one of them and we have tried pumping with our feet and nothing is working he knows it getting fluid down to the t type thing or whatever you want to call it it's the pice that the two back brake lines come off of and the two front lines come off of but no fluid from there

The van is nearly 40 years old. You may need to rebuild the master cylinder and wheel cylinders and replace brake lines due to rust. Replace the flex lines too.

Pull each section of said line and hit them with some air.... sitting there may have gummed them up.... after that, flush with brake cleaner and try bleeding them again
