how hard is it to swap transmissions in a 98 taurus S H O

The torque converter in my 98 S H O is shuttering what would be easier to do, slide the trans off the motor without pulling the trans all the way out and swapping the torque converter or just pulling the whole transmission out

my dads f-150 had a shudder in his torque converter as well. he took it to a shop and they said it was a common ford thing. they added some sort of fluid and it hasnt done it since and that was around 100k miles ago.

My 93 F-150 had the same prob a couple of years ago as well and ford did the same but now they dont have the same bottle of stuff. I tried the one they are using now and it didnt work, still trying to find the bottle that ford had me use on my truck but i cant remember the name of it at all.
