Thump Noise from back of the car ?
Asked by camryloveforever Jul 03, 2019 at 04:48 AM about the 2019 Toyota Camry LE FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I bought a Toyota Camry LE Hybrid 2019 model. When I have a full tank, and I
come to a full stop from about 20+ miles per hour speed, I hear a thump
sound. The noise is very loud and audible.
Has anyone faced this problem? How did you solve it?

Is your car AWD and have the torque vectoring? If so, Toyota has a TSB out for this issue. So either way have the dealership service department check it out, it is still under warranty. You can put the car in sport mode to eliminate the noise.
I have a 2019 Camry LE hybrid but it makes a loud plastic like clanking noise from underneath in the front/center side of car while coming down the hill and applying sudden brakes over rough broken road patches . Toyota service people could not figure it out despite going on long drives with the mechanics as we could not replicate the exact sound. It’s only occasional but it’s very frustrating as I want to get it rectified/repaired before the warranty expires.
Thank you for the reply! No it’s a FWD. They could not figure it out yet. Unable to replicate the same noise issue during test drives with mechanic:(

@Denthat I have the same car and the exact same problem as you described.
@Moghtaderi, so 2 days ago after the regular oil change service, did a test drive with mechanic again going on rough road patches (for the third time) but could not replicate the same noise issue. Finally the mechanic came up with an answer that it could be the sound of ABS when tires lose traction and I hope and pray it is right. So far other than the noise, had no other issue with the car. So I am kinda convinced that as long as it is not a safety issue and the car runs fine for at least 200000miles, I am fine with it:)) LOL. Thank you for replying and let’s keep in touch about these issues.
