I burned my clutch backing up a hill. It smoked and smelled bad. Do I have to replace it immediately?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS
I was traveling down a ramp into a parking garage, but the angle was too steep and I was
scraping the front end, so I backed up super slow and burned up my clutch. I wondering
how long it might last (not knowing how old this clutch is) before I need to replace it.

Listen to Tennisshoes he is correct. I severely burned the clutch in my Corvette drag racing from a stop light during a car show. The pedal clutch stuck in the partially down position. There have been no ill effects from this. It happened 3 years ago.
