No spark.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My son just bought an 02 Eclipse that wasn't running. Previous owner said it just quit and thought it was fuel pump. That has been replaced along with a new battery. I don't think it is getting spark. Put code reader on it and the crank position sensor came up. We have ordered it. Can there be any thing else that would be helpful that needs to be done to get this car running?

How many miles on car? And do you know if timing belt has been replaced? I would do a compression check on all cylinders. Any with 0 psi will have bent valves. If timing belt jumps time or breaks on these engines it will have bent valves. This is very common for these engines. If belt is broke or jumped time it can also thro a crank position sensor code.
I don't know if the belt has jumped. it isn't broken though. Going to replace it when we do sensor no matter. Doesn't make sense not to if the motor is going to be apart. mileage is about 90000
And don't forget to do water pump too. I also always try and get the kit that has all the timing idler pulleys in it also. Like you said it's already torn apart might as well go ahead and put all new in there.
