can I recharge my battery for my Mitsubishi Diamante after 4 years of usage or do I have to get a new one?

the battery is dead or drained .

Posssible but unlikely. That is about the life-span of a car battery. Even if you re-charged it would not last much longer. Get a new one

I agree. I have brought some back to life but on cold mornings they just could not do as they should.

.........and lastly... recommend you have the battery tested before you dump it. You might have problems in the car which contributed to the battery dying.
